WHY DO I NEED AN EYE EXAM WHEN I SEE FINE?

You should have an eye exam every two years at least.  Checking your eye health is important.  Listen to your Eye Doctor.  An eye doctor will check your cornea and the back of your eye and check your eye pressures.  The eye doctor can often diagnose a health problem or eye problem before you have a symptom.  It is the same thing as going to see your doctor for a wellness exam.

WHAT IF MY PRESCRIPTION IS INCORRECT?

Certified opticians guarantee your frames/lenses are filled within the parameters of your doctor’s prescription by taking numerous measurements.  Usually, with most Optical Shops, there is a 3-month warranty on a Doctors prescription change and a warranty on damaged frames and  lenses.

EYEGLASSES?

WHAT IS THE PROPER WAY TO CARE FOR MY EYEGLASSES?

  • Never rest glasses with the lenses face-down

  • Always apply a liquid eyeglass cleaner before wiping lenses -- tiny   particles are abrasive when rubbed across a dry lens surface

  • Use a lint free cloth to lightly dry wet surface of clean lens

  • Don’t use household cleaners -- window cleaner, hand soap, or cleaning solvents, or dishwashing liquid. These products contain a high ph level which compromise  lens  coatings

  • Never use clothing to wipe lenses clean

  • Wash your cleaning cloth frequently without the use of fabric softener.

 Frame Care

  • Use both hands to put frames on and take them off

  • Store your eyewear in their case when not in use

  • To avoid damage to the frame, specialized tools are used for adjustments.  Do not attempt to adjust frames yourself.

  • Don't permit others to try on your eyewear as it may change your custom fitting

  • Never wear glasses on your head.  This will stretch the frame.

  • Always clean nose pads and temple tips of cosmetics and skin oils to prevent tarnishing and brittleness. You can use an old tooth brush for this procedure.

  • Eyewear in direct sunlight or high temperatures will cause frames and lenses to warp.

  • Substituting screws with wire, or pins can cause stripped threading.
